Good subwoofer systems always require powerful additional amplifiers. For those who find installing an external amplifier too complicated or lack the space, active versions with factory-installed amplifiers are the way to go. But beware: for cost reasons, weaker or outdated analog power stages are often installed—a difference that is difficult for laypeople to detect at first glance. Sometimes even the simplest 12-volt bridge chips are used, which deliver no more power than basic car radios. ESX takes a different approach, integrating state-of-the-art Class D amplifier modules capable of delivering up to 400 watts of RMS output power. This allows the very compact QUANTUM QXB active subwoofer systems to deliver extremely high performance and bass levels.

ESX uses high-quality, award-winning POWER4 active modules, which are also highly efficient with up to 84% efficiency. Thanks to state-of-the-art Class D circuitry and EPS® PRO, these modules are even ready for installation in the latest vehicles. The included remote control cable allows the bass levels to be adjusted from the driver's seat.

ESX has also included four mounting feet with the active versions of the QUANTUM QXB subwoofer systems, which can be screwed onto the front panel if required. This makes it easy to convert both models into "down-firing subs." These speakers, with the woofer facing downwards, are particularly well suited for installation, for example, in double trunk floors.
